Hi, I'm Shaikh Abdul Hameed

I'm a senior Java backend engineer and tech lead with about 15 years building systems that move money. That includes core banking, card payments, Islamic finance (Takaful) and insurance policy and claims platforms, for teams at Maybank, UOB, AXA, Takaful Malaysia and TSYS, and most recently as Team Lead at Aleph Labs.

I'm based in Kolkata, India and work remotely with clients worldwide. I'm used to overlapping with Asia, Middle East and European hours.

What I'm good at

• Building backend services that stay up. Spring Boot 3.x, Java 21, REST APIs and microservices, designed for regulated, high-volume environments.
• Event-driven systems with Apache Kafka. Producers, consumers, retries, dead-letter topics, and the operational details that matter in production.
• Reactive APIs with Spring WebFlux. Useful when you need high concurrency without a large thread pool.
• Upgrading older Java systems. Java 8 to 17/21 and Spring Boot 2 to 3.5 / 4.x (javax to jakarta, dependency conflicts, build fixes).
• Fixing production problems. At UOB I owned L3 production incident resolution: root-cause analysis, hotfixes and preventing repeats.
• Payment systems. Banking and card payments experience (Maybank, UOB, TSYS), and I built the payment service in my own ZaykaHub food ordering platform.
• Leading and delivering. I've led a team at Aleph Labs, and at IT Essentials I delivered projects end to end on my own.
